What is Unity?
Unity is a positive, progressive new thought movement, which honors the divinity in each individual. It is a way of living known as "Practical Christianity", and we hold Jesus to be our wayshower and mentor. We affirm the daily practice of love and divine self-worth as taught by Jesus.
It is our purpose, through Sunday talks, classes and workshops that you learn living a spiritual life is about opening one's heart to God and others. One of the ways this is done is through the daily practice of prayer and meditation.
We invite you to observe and experience Unity's practical approach to Christianity. Attend several of our Sunday Celebrations and/or classes, read some of our literature and you will know if the spiritual way of life taught here is what you are looking for.

- Unity On The Avenue
Membership in Unity On The AvenueIndividuals who decide to make UOTA their spiritual home are invied to become formal members. Anyone seeking membership is required to attend an orientation class. Then they are formally welcomed into membership during a Sunday Celebration. Contact the church office for more information and for when the next class is scheduled.

Co-Founder of Unity Charles Sherlock Fillmore
Charles Sherlock Fillmore (August 22, 1854 – July 5, 1948), born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, founded Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, with his wife, Myrtle Page Fillmore, in 1889. He became known as an American mystic for his contributions to metaphysical interpretations of Biblical scripture.

Mary Caroline "Myrtle" Page Fillmore (August 6, 1845, Pagetown, Ohio - October 6, 1931) was co-founder of Unity, a church within the New Thought movement, along with her husband Charles Fillmore. Prior to that time, she worked as a schoolteacher.

The Five Principles of Unity
- God is absolute good, everywhere present.
- Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.
- Human beings create their experiences by the activity of their thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.
- Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity, and everything good.
- Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough. A person must also live the truth that he or she knows.
